Outdoor Golf Netting: UV-Stabilized for All-Weather Use

Outdoor golf netting needs to handle two things: stopping golf balls and surviving the elements. Our outdoor golf net panels are built with UV-stabilized #21 Square Mesh 3/4" knotted nylon that delivers 250 lb breaking strength per knot while withstanding years of sun, rain, wind, and temperature swings. Whether you're setting up a backyard practice range or installing barrier netting at a facility, this is the material built for the job.

Engineered for Outdoor Conditions

The number one enemy of outdoor netting is UV radiation. Sunlight breaks down nylon fibers over time, causing them to become brittle and lose strength. Our outdoor golf netting uses DuPont Type 66-728 nylon with built-in UV stabilizers that resist this degradation. The result is a net that maintains its full strength and flexibility for 7-10 years in direct outdoor exposure.

Beyond UV resistance, the nylon material is naturally rot-proof and resistant to mildew, mold, and moisture absorption. It won't sag when wet, doesn't attract insects, and maintains consistent performance whether it's 100°F in summer or below freezing in winter. You can install it and leave it up year-round without concern.

Outdoor Panel Sizes

Outdoor installations often run larger than indoor or garage setups because you have more space to work with. Our most common outdoor sizes include:

  • 10' x 10' — Standard panel for backyard practice nets and small barriers. A good starting size for personal practice areas.
  • 10' x 15' — Extended panel for wider coverage. Popular for backyard ranges where you want extra containment on the sides.
  • 10' x 20' — Large panel for full-width backyard barriers or driving range dividers. Covers a wide area with a single panel.
  • 15' x 25' — Facility-grade panel for commercial outdoor installations. Used for perimeter containment, fairway barriers, and range backstops.

Need something larger? We custom cut to any dimensions at $3.85 per square foot. For large outdoor installations, contact us for volume pricing.

Outdoor Installation Best Practices

Outdoor golf net installations need to account for wind load. A large net panel acts like a sail in strong winds, putting significant force on support poles and mounting hardware. Here's how to handle it:

  • Use heavy-duty support poles — Set galvanized steel poles or pressure-treated 6x6 wood posts in concrete footings at least 3 feet deep. Pole height should exceed net height by 2-3 feet to allow for cable or rope attachment above the net.
  • Allow for slack — Install the net with 12-18 inches of slack for outdoor use. Slack reduces wind load and allows the netting to flex under impact and in breezes without stressing the support structure.
  • Use a top cable — Run a galvanized steel cable between poles at the top of the net. This distributes the load evenly across the full width rather than concentrating force at mounting points.
  • Secure the bottom — Weight the bottom edge with a chain threaded through the mesh or stake it to the ground with landscape stakes. This prevents the net from blowing up in wind.

Outdoor Applications

Our outdoor golf netting serves multiple purposes beyond personal practice nets:

  • Backyard practice ranges — Set up a personal driving range in your yard with a backstop net and optional side panels.
  • Property boundary barriers — Prevent balls from leaving your property and entering neighboring yards, roads, or public areas.
  • Driving range dividers — Separate hitting bays at outdoor driving ranges for safety and ball containment.
  • Course perimeter netting — Protect adjacent properties, parking lots, and roads along golf course fairways and tees.
