Golf Impact Netting: Maximum Stopping Power

Golf impact netting is built for one purpose — absorbing and containing golf balls at full velocity. When a driver sends a ball at 150+ mph, you need netting with serious stopping power. Our #21 Square Mesh 3/4" knotted nylon impact net panels deliver 250 lb breaking strength per knot, providing the heavy-duty containment required for close-range hitting setups, driving range backstops, and practice facility barriers.

What Is Golf Impact Netting?

Impact netting refers to the netting panels that take direct hits from golf balls. Unlike perimeter or barrier netting that occasionally catches a stray shot, impact netting sits directly in the line of fire and absorbs repeated high-speed impacts every session. This means the material needs superior durability, tight mesh construction, and the ability to flex without tearing.

Our golf impact netting uses #21 knotted nylon twine — a thick, heavy-duty twine size that provides substantially more stopping power than the lighter #12 or #15 twine found in economy nets. The 3/4" square mesh pattern means no golf ball can pass through, and the knotted construction locks each intersection so damage to one area can't spread across the panel.

Impact Net Panel Sizes

  • 6' x 6' — Compact impact panel for focused target practice. Mount at the center of a larger containment net to reinforce the primary hitting zone.
  • 10' x 10' — Standard impact net size for home and facility practice bays. Covers the full target area for all clubs.
  • 10' x 15' — Extended width for wider hitting bays or setups where multiple golfers share a lane.
  • 10' x 20' — Full-size impact panel for driving range backstops and facility installations. Covers the back wall of a multi-bay range.

All panels are custom cut to your specifications at $3.85 per square foot. For high-traffic areas that take concentrated hits, consider double-layering the netting for extended life.

Double-Layer Impact Zones

For setups where the net takes direct driver hits from close range (8-10 feet), we recommend doubling the netting in the primary impact zone. Mount a second panel behind the first with 3-6 inches of air space between them. The first panel absorbs the initial impact and slows the ball; the second panel catches anything that gets through. This double-layer approach significantly extends the life of both panels and adds an extra safety margin.

A common configuration is a 6' x 6' reinforcement panel centered behind a larger 10' x 10' primary net. This puts double netting where most shots land while keeping costs reasonable.

Impact Netting Applications

Golf impact netting serves critical roles in multiple settings:

  • Practice bay backstops — The primary stopping net behind hitting mats at ranges and facilities.
  • Simulator enclosures — Catches balls that miss the impact screen surface. Protects walls, projectors, and other equipment.
  • Close-range hitting stations — Nets positioned 8-15 feet from the tee for compact practice setups in garages, basements, and small backyards.
  • Cage back panels — The rear panel in golf cage enclosures takes the most abuse and often needs thicker or doubled netting.

Material Specifications

Our golf impact netting is manufactured from DuPont Type 66-728 knotted nylon with UV stabilization for outdoor durability. The #21 twine size provides a balance of stopping power and weight — thick enough to handle thousands of impacts but light enough to mount with standard hardware. Expected outdoor service life is 7-10 years under normal use conditions.

The nylon material naturally dampens sound on impact, producing a soft catch rather than a loud snap. This acoustic characteristic is particularly important for indoor installations and setups near residential areas where noise could be a concern.
