Request a Quote 1-800-331-2973A golf hitting net needs to do one thing exceptionally well — absorb the force of a golf ball traveling at high speed and stop it dead. Our golf hitting nets are built with #21 Square Mesh 3/4" knotted nylon that delivers 250 lb breaking strength per knot, making them tough enough to handle thousands of full-swing impacts from drivers, fairway woods, and irons without wearing out.
Not all golf nets are created equal. Many consumer-grade hitting nets use thin, loosely woven material that stretches after a few sessions and eventually tears through. A proper golf hitting net uses heavy-duty knotted nylon with tight mesh openings that prevent balls from passing through or getting stuck.
The 3/4" square mesh pattern on our hitting nets is specifically chosen for golf ball containment. It's small enough that no golf ball can pass through, yet open enough to absorb impact energy by allowing slight flex in the netting. This combination of strength and give is what makes knotted nylon the preferred material for professional golf facilities and driving ranges worldwide.
The right size for your golf hitting net depends on your setup and practice habits:
Your hitting net setup needs a sturdy frame to absorb repeated impacts without shifting. Steel or heavy-gauge PVC pipe frames work best. Mount the net with slight slack — a net that's pulled drum-tight transfers more force to the frame, while a net with 6-12 inches of sag absorbs energy more effectively and lasts longer.
Position your hitting mat 8-12 feet from the net face. This gives the ball enough room to separate from the clubface but not enough distance to build significant velocity before impact. For driver practice, you may want to increase this distance to 12-15 feet for a more natural feel.
Add a quality hitting mat with a realistic turf surface to protect your clubs and simulate fairway contact. Many golfers also mount a target or use alignment aids attached to the net to practice aim and shot shape.
Our hitting nets are made from UV-stabilized DuPont Type 66-728 knotted nylon — the same material used in commercial sports netting installations. Whether you mount your hitting net outdoors in direct sunlight or in a garage bay, it's engineered to resist degradation from UV exposure, moisture, and temperature swings. Typical outdoor service life is 7-10 years with normal use.
The knotted construction is critical for a hitting net. Each intersection in the mesh is individually tied, so if a single strand gets damaged, the surrounding knots prevent the damage from spreading. This means isolated wear spots don't compromise the entire net — you get years of reliable use even with heavy daily practice.
Every golf hitting net we sell is custom cut to your exact dimensions. Need a 9' x 11' panel to fit a specific frame? No problem. At $3.85 per square foot, you pay only for the netting you need. Orders typically ship within 5-7 business days.
